Siso makes 5th Cebuana Lhuillier main draw

CEBUANO standout Bernardine Niño Siso leads four other players to the main draw of the 5th Cebuana Lhuillier Tennis Circuit men’s open at the Baseline Restaurant today.

Siso, a former age group champion, Almichal Madrio, Shanur Khandaker and Yoyo Villa made the main draw after topping the qualifying round.

They will be joining the country’s top players like Davis Cup veterans Johnny Arcilla, Vicente Elberto Anasta, Rolando Ruel Jr. and the rest of the country’s top 16 players.

For Siso, making the main draw is sweet as it is the first time he joined the qualifiers in three years.

“When I entered college, I had to attend summer school, which is the reason I have not competed in Cebuana Lhuillier for over three years,” he said.

Siso said he wasn’t able to practice for the past few weeks because he was hospitalized for dengue a few weeks ago.

“I will strive hard (in the main draw). I think those players who are ranked should feel the pressure. Anyway, I have nothing to lose,” he said in Cebuano. King Anthony Perez, UP Cebu Mass Comm Intern
