FELIX Barrientos, the country’s finest player in the 1990s, has been named as one of the trustees of the Philippine Tennis Academy.

“I am glad to be able to help Philippine tennis,” said Barrientos, who powered the country’s Davis Cup squad to a World Group slot in 1991. He now works as a private banker in Singapore.

“There has been no program as cohesive as this one before.”

As a trustee of the PTA, his role is to share his experience in international play with the participants.

“I’ll help our young players compete globally and to connect the PTA, a self-sustaining program, to the corporate world,” he said.

The PTA was launched last year by a group of enthusiasts like Jean Henri Lhuillier, Oscar Hilado, Rommie Chan, and Hanky Lee, to identify and train young tennis talents.
