Lanzado strikes again

TANGUB City’s Francis Dominic Lanzado emerged double winner again in the recently 16th leg of the 2013 Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group Tennis series held in Cagayan De Oro after winning both the 16 and under and 18 and under titles, beating the same opponent in the finals of two events.

Lanzado won both titles with the same scores, 7-5, 6-3 over local bet Dave Mosqueda and even with five legs left, is already assured of MVP honors in this nation-wide tennis developmental program initiated by tennis patron Jean Henri Lhuillier in support of tennis in the Philippines.

Other boys’ division winners were Jose Ma. Pague from Zamboanga who beat another local entry Clyde Marino Casino 7-5, 6-1, in the 14 and under finals, Iligan City’s Vince Serino in the 12 and under who was an easy 6-2, 6-2 winner over Henry Garcia who also hails from the host city, and multiple winner, Surigao native Rupert Tortal in the mixed 10 & under division after prevailing over Brent Cortes of Lanao del Norte, 4-0, 4-1.

In the girls’ side, Lanao del Norte’s Immaville Gervacio defeated Angelica Mosqueda, 6-2, 6-3 for the 16 and under crown but bowed down to CDO’s Javelle Llavore, 5-7, 3-6 in the 18 and under finals.

Mosqueda also failed in her bid, losing to Ozamiz City bet Lorraine Grace Balora, who won 7-5, 6-1 in the 14 and under finale, while in the 12 and under group, Gennifer Pagente blanked Andrea Gatchalian, 6-0, 6-0.
