LOCAL bets dominated the last two stagings of the 2013 Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group Tennis Series in Digos, Davao del Sur and in Surigao as the 10-month long, 21-leg series hit its half-way point.

John Velez Davis split his two stabs at the championship, beating Paul Angelo Basan 6-1, 6-4 for the 10 & under crown but losing to Danzel Dizon as he was forced to retire while trailing 4-6, 2-3 in the 12 & under age group.

Lorderns Pacheco beat Stephen Tubbs 6-4, 6-1 for the 14& under title, while Joel Cantilla II was a double winner, disposing of Lisandro Alqueza 6-2, 6-0 in the 16 & under title match and prevailing over Boris Diamante 6-3, 6-4 in the 17 & under age group.

In the girls’ side, Dana Abad was an easy 6-2, 6-1 winner over Jazzelle Madis in the 12 & under finals, Trisha Velez blasted Clarizza Caorte, 6-0, 6-1 in the 14 & under age group finals and Caorte bowing anew in the 16 & under finals this time to Shaira Rivera who won 6-3, 6-2.

Rivera failed to duplicate her earlier triumph though as she lost to Genevieve Caorte 0-6, 6-1, 6-10 for the 18 and under crown.

Winners in the boys’ side in the Surigao leg were multi titlist Rupert Tortal in the 10 & under, Vaugh Spence Codillo in the 12 & under, Jose Mario Pague in the 14 & under, Dave Mosquede in the 16 & under, and Angelo Esguerra in the 18 & under.
