Old, new faces win in Cebuana age group netfest

TANGUB City’s Fancis Lazado, representing familiar faces and local bet Dawn Uy, making her presence felt as a first-timer, led the winners in the 13th leg of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group Tennis Series in Ubay, Bohol, winning two singles crown and a share in the doubles event.

Lanzado copped both the 16 & under and 18 & under age group titles in the boys’ division, beating Emmanuel Vacalares Jr. both times with similar scores of 6-3, 6-3, and teaming up with Ivan Dame Olo t take the 18-under doubles crown as they beat Vacalares and Anden Padaganan, 10-4.

Uy also won the 16-under and 18-under crowns, but against separate opponents, defeating Leyte’s Joy Camille Sanico, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the younger group and over Fatima May Cuyno, 6-4, 7-5 for the 18-under.

Together with Blessy Martinez, the duo prevailed over Cuyno and Pia Marie Ramirez, 10-6, for the 18-under doubles’ crown.

Other back-to-back winners were multi-tilted Rupert Tortal in the 10-under unisex group, as he also took the doubles’ title together with Ashton Villanueva; Zamboanga’s Jose Maria Pague, who ruled the boys’ 14-under singles and doubles competition, with Kenneth Banicoas as his doubles partner, and Bais City bet Angela Cabaral, winner in the girls’ 14 & under and together with Cagayan de Oro’s Ginnifer Pagente, also went home with the girls’ 14-under doubles title.

Pagente ruled the 12-under age group, while Cebu’s Marc Suson emerged winner in the boys’ 12-under.
