Duran, Mosqueda post twin wins in age group tennis

MANILA, Philippines - Ma. Delrose Duran of Eastern Samar and Dave Mosqueda each scored a twin kill in the final of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group tennis series leg recently in Mambajao, Camiguin.

Duran pulled off a double in the final at the expense of Anjelica Mosqueda, 6-3, 6-2, for the 14-under crown, and 6-2, 6-3 for the 16-under diadem.

Mosqueda, of Cagayan de Oro, romped off with the titles in the boys’ 16-U (6-4, 6-1) and 18-U (6-0, 6-2), both over Joel Librodo of Gingoog City.

Other winners were Surigao’s Rupert Tortal over Ashton Villanueva, 5-3, 2-4, 4-2, in the unisex 10-U and CDO’s Henry Garcia over Iligan City’s Anthony Davao, 6-2, 7-5, in the 12-U event.

Local bet Clyde Casino foiled Garcia’s bid for a double title with a 6-0, 6-4 win in the 14-U final. Blessy Martinez beat fellow Camiguin entry Bea Macatual, 6-2, 6-1, to win the girls’ 18-U tiara.
