Manila Standard – Lanzado, Gervacio in twin kill

Tangub City bet Francis Lanzado and Lanao del Norte’s Immaville Gervacio repeated their earlier victories in the previous leg of the 2013 Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group Tennis Series, scoring similar victories at the recently concluded fifth leg in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Lanzado again ruled the 16-under division, defeating Clarence Cabahug, 6-3, 4-6, 10-5, while Gervacio was even more impressive, annexing anew the girls’ 16-under and 18-under titles. She cut down Lorraine Barola, 7-6 , 7-6, in the 16-under finals, while disposing of Kezeah Keren Ilisan, 6-1, 6-0, in the other finale.

Gennifer Pagente was another repeat winner as she ruled anew the girls’ 12-under category, beating Ozamiz City’s Ashley Balatero, 6-1, 6-4, but bowed down to Ma. Delrose Duran, 3-6, 4-6 in the finals of the 14-under.

Other winners were Joel Librado from Gingoog in the boys’ 18-under; Mark Malinis, who copped the 14-under crown; Andrei Cuevas, who took the 12-under title, and Ashton Villanueva, who won the 10-under group.

The fifth leg in Marawi City got underway with organizer Mario Craiz expecting the leg to go over the average 120 participants for the last three years.
