Defending champion Johnny Arcilla and Davis Cuppers Francis Casey Alcantara and Elbert Anasta expectedly advanced to the third round by humbling their little-known rivals in the Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open yesterday at the PCA shellcourts in Paco, Manila.

fter a fierce shootout in the first set, the 32-year-old Arcilla went on to score a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alvee Villamor as he pressed his bid for a seventh title in the tournament presented by Cebuana Lhuillier.

Arcilla blamed his early struggle to a left shoulder injury sustained during training a month ago.

Fil-German top seed Marc Sieber blanked Gilbert Estrada, 6-0, 6-0, to become the only player here so far who has yet to drop a game. Sieber earlier swept Jarryd Manduriao, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round.

Alcantara, the former PH No. 1 junior player, bested Mark Alcoseba, 6-4, 6-2, to also advance while fourth pick Anasta disposed of Joshua Cano, 6-3, 6-2.
