Age group tennis tourney series features 17 legs

FOR 2011, Cebuana Lhuillier has the most number of age group tennis tournament series with 17 tournaments for the year.

 

The tournament schedule is as follows: Butuan April 1-4, Surigao April 5-7, Bais, Dumaguete April 9-12, Ubay, Bohol April 14-17, Ormoc, Leyte April 18-21, Kalibo, Aklan April 23-26, Marbel, South Cotabato April 28-30, Kidapawan, North Cotabato May2-5, Iligan May 7-10, Marawi May 12-15, Ozamiz City May 17-20, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental May 19-22, Tubod May 23-26, Davao City May 28-30, Camiguin Island May 28-30, Gingoog City June 1-3 and Cagayan de Oro June 10-12.

 

Cebuana Lhuillier has been supporting the sport of tennis for several years and through its CEO, Jean Henri Lhuillier, himself a tennis enthusiast, the company has been generous not just in age group tennis tournaments, but also in the Davis Cup, the PCA Open and collegiate tennis. Cebuana Lhuillier has also been instrumental in the last three years in having programs that teach coaches how to teach tennis in partnership with the United States Professional Tennis Association.

 

This partnership has also led to more than 30 people being certified as a USPTA Tennis Professional.

 

In his personal capacity, Jean Henri has been supporting world class juniors such as Nino Alcantara, the only Filipino tennis grandslam winner and Jurence Mendoza. The local age group tournaments that Cebuana Lhuillier has done have produced two number ones so far: 12-year-old Titan Llavorre and 14-year-old Dimples Resma. It has also produced eight top-ten players in their respective age group categories, among them Jorou Librodo, Denise Jimenez, Princess Castillo, Joel Librodo and Lynette Palasan to name a few.

There are three tournaments which have Group 2 status that has the highest number of points at 120 and they are Surigao, Bohol and Ormoc City. There are four tournaments that have Group 3 status with 80 points and they are Gingoog, Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin Island.  All in all, the Cebuana Lhuillier Age Group Tennis Series has more than 1,000 points in stake for age groupers wishing to improve their rankings. There are simultaneous tennis tournaments in Northern and Southern Mindanao for tennis players from their respective areas.
