Games Today (Ynares Sports Center)
12 p.m. – NLEX vs Café France
2 p.m. – Jr. Powerade vs Boracay Rum
NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez expects a tough challenge as the Road Warriors try to stretch their winning streak to four games when they battle Café France today in the elimination round of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The Road Warriors remain the only unbeaten team in the conference and they intend to keep it that way to extend their lead over their closest pursuers.
Fernandez said their defense will once again be put to test in the 12 noon encounter at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
Coming off back-to-back defeats against Big Chill and Cebuana Lhuillier, the Bakers are desperate to bounce back and get back on the winning track. That mindset, according to Fernandez, makes them a dangerous opponent.
“Café France is a resurgent team. After losing two in a row I expect them to step up their games,” Fernandez said. “They’re a physical team so once again our defense will be put to test.”
The Road Warriors’ defense has been splendid during their three-game winning streak in which they limited their opponents to 62 points.
Fernandez said the one mistake they can’t afford to commit against the Bakers is taking them lightly.
“They (Bakers) are capable of beating any team on any given day. So we must stay focused,” Fernandez said.
In the other game, Junior Powerade attempts to take another step up the standings when it battles winless Boracay Rum at 2 p.m.
The Jr. Tigers currently share third spot with idle Cebuana Lhuillier at 2-1 (win-loss) record. Boracay Rum, on the other hand, has lost its first three games — its worst start in three conferences.
